im beginning to miss the days of sec2. the ups and the downs everyone shared together. i created the most problems in class, causing much displeasure to everyone. i apologise. ><
what i missed most was the pe lesson the class had with mr yip. more than half of the class,
including the girls, played soccer with us. kenneth was still there =D. i remember that i
missed a host of chances but i made up for it with a goal against wen cong to bring my side
1-0 up. kenneth's free kick then went directly into goal. 1-1 with not much time left.
it was the teamwork everyone shared together to build into goal. football is not about one
man show, is about the team work that carries the team to victory. i have played with the
best of soccer players in chong boon. maybe over complacency kills. our class was brought
down to earth with a stunning 0-3 defeat in the hands of combined 2e1 2e3 and 2ta class.
it was stunning, a team with many stars, sam, wencong, yuyang, andrew, heshvin, kurum,
asri, mun ru, our best goalkeeper desmond, and myself. we have beaten the sec5s 7-0 b4.
we thought that we would easily win. we attacked fairly well, i had a couple of chances on
goal but failed to convert. the first goal definitely killed us. we pushed forward to attack, but left a big hole in the middle to allow the opposition to score the second. we never gave up.
continued to attack, but we let in another disappointing goal. 0-3 defeat. its ok. we played
very very well. we played as a class, as a team, we had the fighting spirit. chins up. it
was not an embarassing defeat. it was just the over complacency of everyone which led
to the downfall.
another occasion was the sports fiesta back in april in the soccer final. blue against green.
not to showboat, but i scored the only goal in the group game for my green house which
brought us through to the finals after a 1-0 , 0-0 , 0-0 , 0-0 and we advanced the the final
just by one point over the expense of yellow house. the final was a disappointing one.
everyone wants to be a winner. i had confidence that i was going to win the game and make
my team captain proud. but little did we expect that there was no goalpost and chairs had
to be used. it was an advantage for the blue house because they can shoot from range with
accuracy. so the game started. we defended for nearly 10minutes before we cracked with
a goalkeeper error. after that goal went in, just in a shocking 2minutes, we were 0-3 down.
remember the famous comeback by liverpool in Istanbul in 2005? they were 0-3 down
against Italian giants ACMilan. however, they came back in 6 glorious minutes as they
scored 3 to make it level at 3-3. Liverpool then went on to win 3-2 on penalties. we attacked,
never gave up. karabo then gave us abit of hope, by heading into goal to make it 1-3. so we
thought, fine. we have an outside chance to beat the odds by making a comeback. but things
were not that simple. nicholas came on on the start of the second half and his presence made
the difference. in less than a minute, he delivered, pushing his shot to the bottom left corner
out of the goalkeeper's reach. Green 1-4 Blue. Nicholas then finished us by scoring a brace
then a hat-trick, extending their lead by 5 goals. it was already game over for us with just
2minutes left. an own goal gave us something to cheer about as the game finished 2-6
in the favour of Blue house.
